Carlisle Racecourse is located just off the M6 (Junction 42) and is only a few miles from Carlisle City Centre.

From the north and south
Leave M6 at junction 42, follow signs for Dalston. Follow the road for approx 2 miles until you reach a staggered junction and turn right. The racecourse is approximately 1 mile on the left hand side.
From the east
Take A69 or A66 to M6 motorway. Join the M6 and leave at junction 42 and follow directions above.
From the west
Travel along the A595 following signs for Carlisle. Continue along this road and take the 3rd exit at the next roundabout. Follow the road past the Garden Centre and turn left at the junction. Follow this road and at T-junction in Dalston turn right. Follow road until you reach Bridge End pub. Turn left over the bridge and follow signs for Durdar. When you reach the next junction, turn left. The racecourse is approximately a mile on the left hand side.

On racedays, Reays operate a bus service from Lonsdale Street, near the Church, opposite the bus station, up to the Racecourse. Buses run 90 minutes and 45 minutes before the first race and return to Carlisle 5 minutes and 35 minutes after the last race. The cost for this service is £1.60 each way.
On non-racedays, the timetable for the bus serving the racecourse can be found by following the below link. Ask your bus driver which stop to get off at for the Racecourse!
The racecourse is 2.2 miles from Carlisle Station, a major station on the West Coast Main Line, lying 102 miles south of Glasgow Central, and 299 miles north of London Euston.
Stagecoach (01228 597222) operate a bus service to Durdar – Route 65 or 66. Alternatively the racecourse is only a short taxi ride or a slightly longer walk away.
Carlisle Airport is approximately eight miles from the Racecourse. Helicopter landing at the Racecourse is available by prior arrangement only.

Carlisle Train station is located 2.5 miles from the racecourse
Coach and car parking is free of charge. Please follow the directional signs to the public car parks as you approach the racecourse. The course is fully signposted from Junction 42 of the M6 and from the surrounding areas.
There will be Buses collecting from Lonsdale Street which is 0.3 miles from the train station (6 minute walk) – Bus Fair to the racecourse is £1.60.
If you are dropping guests off this will only be allowed in the layby in front of the grandstand on Durdar road, this will run until 9pm only.
Buses will come to the racecourse departing from Lonsdale Street from 16.00 and continuing until 8pm.
Reays Coaches will provide a free shuttle service back to the lower viaduct car park in the city centre. These are funded by the racecourse and complimentary for customers.
There will be an organised queuing system to get onto the buses. Please note that there is no need to rush to get on the bus as there will be 14 individual buses that will keep returning to site to pick people up until the site is clear.
Taxis have been informed. If you are planning on being picked up please arrange to be picked up from the Lower Viaduct Car Park.
Select bars will be staying open longer than usual so please do not feel like you need to rush off site.
There will be a road closure in place from Ascot Way up to the racecourse and from the cross road’s on Durdar road.
If you are parked in the North Car Park you will only be able to leave going North (Turning Right) subsequently if you are parked in the South Car Park then you will only be able to leave going south (Turning Left)
If you are arranging to be picked up please note that there will be no access to vehicles from 9pm from the racecourse and guests are asked to get the bus to the Lower Viaduct car park and arrange to be picked up from there.
Free car and coach parking is available close to the racecourse. Please follow the directional signs to the public car parks as you approach the racecourse. The racecourse opens between 2 and 2.5 hours before the first race. If you have booked hospitality, we recommend arriving as soon as we open the gates in order to allow sufficient time to enjoy your meal before the racing starts.Disabled parking is also signposted and is located in the North Car Park just across from the Premier Entrance to the Racecourse. The course is fully signposted from Junction 42 of the M6 and from the surrounding areas.
Trackside parking is available on select race days at Carlisle Racecourse. It is £10 per car, you will also need to pay General admission ticket for those in the car.
Trackside parking has to be bought prior to the raceday and is not available on the day. In order to book your ticket please call the office on 01228 554700
